Terms of Service
Effective date: May 9, 2026. Last updated: May 9, 2026.
These terms govern your use of MyTapWater.us (the "Site"). By using the Site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
What MyTapWater.us is, and is not
MyTapWater.us is an informational service that aggregates publicly available data about U.S. drinking water systems and lead service line inventories. It is not a medical service, not a water utility, not a regulator, and not affiliated with the EPA or any government agency.
Not medical or legal advice
Information on the Site, including health context for individual contaminants, is for educational purposes only. It is not medical advice, not a diagnosis, and not a substitute for consulting a clinician. If you have a health question related to your water, talk to a doctor.
Information about lead service lines is not legal or property advice. Whether your home has a lead service line is a question best answered by your water utility, a licensed plumber, or your state drinking-water program.
Data accuracy and "as is" disclaimer
We work hard to keep the data on this Site accurate (see our methodology), and we use a two-stage automated verification gate before publishing each release. Public data can still contain errors, lag real-world events, or be missing for some systems.
The Site is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data shown is complete or current.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MyTapWater.us and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Site or reliance on its content. Our total aggregate liability will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).
Acceptable use
- You may read, share, and link to pages on MyTapWater.us freely.
- You may not scrape the Site at a rate or volume that degrades service for others. Reasonable rate limits apply.
- You may not republish entire datasets or substantial portions of templated pages without permission. Original editorial content is copyright MyTapWater.us.
- You may not use the Site to harass any water utility or its employees. The data is descriptive, not actionable for harassment.
Affiliate links and ads
Some pages contain affiliate links (for example, water filters or home water tests) and display advertising via Google AdSense. We may earn a commission when you act on these links. Our editorial decisions are independent of these relationships; see the about page for our editorial standards.
Changes to the Site
We may add, change, or remove pages and features without notice. Pricing and availability of any third-party products linked from the Site are subject to those third parties' own terms.
Changes to these terms
We will update the "Last updated" date when these terms change. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law and venue
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the Site will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Wake County, North Carolina, and you consent to jurisdiction and venue there.
