This is the privacy policy for MyTapWater.us (the "Site"), operated by the MyTapWater.us editorial team. We have written this in plain language. If anything is unclear, email us at privacy@mytapwater.us and we will explain.
Short version
- We do not collect your name, email, or address.
- The address lookup tool accepts your ZIP code only. We never log full street addresses.
- Analytics is cookieless via Cloudflare Web Analytics.
- We display ads through Google AdSense, which may use cookies; you can opt out as described below.
- You can email us to exercise CCPA or GDPR rights at any time.
What we collect
Information you give us
- ZIP code, when you use the address lookup tool. Stored only in the request log for the time required to compute the result, then discarded. Never associated with your identity.
- Email content, if you email hello@mytapwater.us or privacy@mytapwater.us. We retain correspondence for the time needed to respond and to keep a record of corrections.
Information collected automatically
- Cloudflare Web Analytics records page views, referring page, and approximate country. It uses no cookies and no client-side fingerprinting. See Cloudflare Web Analytics.
- Cloudflare network logs may briefly retain your IP address as part of standard request logging and DDoS protection; we do not access these logs for analytics.
- Google AdSense, on pages that carry ads, may set cookies to serve ads relevant to your interests. You can opt out at the Google Ads Settings page or by visiting aboutads.info/choices.
What we do not collect
- Your full street address
- Your name
- Your email address (unless you email us first)
- Your phone number
- Health information, medical history, or any data that would identify you personally
- Cross-site tracking identifiers from data brokers or third-party analytics
Cookies
MyTapWater.us itself does not set cookies. Google AdSense may set cookies to deliver ads. Your browser settings can block these cookies; doing so will not affect site functionality.
Children
MyTapWater.us is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has interacted with the site in a way that involved their personal information, contact us at privacy@mytapwater.us.
Your rights under CCPA (California)
California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete it, the right to correct it, and the right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. MyTapWater.us does not sell or share personal information.
To exercise these rights, email privacy@mytapwater.us with the request and a way to verify your identity.
Your rights under GDPR (European Economic Area, UK)
If you reside in the EEA or the UK, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and the right to object to processing or to data portability. Email privacy@mytapwater.us to exercise any of these rights.
Data retention
- ZIP-code lookup requests: retained only for the duration of the request, no longer than 24 hours in any log.
- Email correspondence: retained for up to two years unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics aggregate data: retained per Cloudflare's own retention policy.
Data security
The Site is served over HTTPS by default. Cloudflare provides edge-level protection. We do not operate any database that holds personal information; the address lookup is keyed on ZIP code only.
Third parties
The Site uses these third-party services:
- Cloudflare (hosting, edge cache, analytics, network protection)
- Google AdSense (advertising; may set cookies on ad-bearing pages)
Changes to this policy
We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we change anything. Material changes will be summarized in a banner at the top of the home page for at least 30 days.
